What are the Objectives and Purposes of the Grand Chapter?
To further the Science of Osteopathic Medicine and its standards of Practice.
To improve the scholastic standing and promote a higher degree of fellowship among its students.
To bring about a closer relationship and understanding between the Student bodies and the officials and members of the faculties of our Colleges.
To foster allegiance to the American Osteopathic Association and to Perpetuate these principles and the teachings through the maintenance and development of this organization.
What is the Purpose and Goals of the Collge Undergraduate Chapters?
To conform the "Objectives & Purposes of the Grand Chapter."
To promote good fellowship and brotherly love among the various chapters Represented in Sigma Sigma Phi-National.
To promote the continued betterment of the college and the fraternity as a Whole.
To promote the advancement of a higher scholastic standing in the college.
To promote the perpetuation and advancement of Osteopathic Medicine. Heavy stress is made on service to the college and the profession.
What are the membership requirements?
Must be a student at an Osteopathic Medical College.
Must successfully complete one semester of classroom work.
Must show a high degree of scholarship and service to college and/or profession.
Must have a passing scholastic standing.
How many Students can each Chapter have in its Membership?
Membership shall not exceed 25% of the total of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th year classes.
Who can be a chapter advisor?
A member of the faculty of that chapter's college
A member of the Grand Chapter in good standing
-OR-
If he is not a member, then the chapter can nominate him by sending a copy of the CV along with a letter requesting that the Grand Chapter consider him for membership.
What does a chapter advisor do?
He is to act as liaison between the chapter and the administration of the college.
When does the Grand Chapter Membership meet?
The membership meets annually at the time of the meeting of the American Osteopathic Association at its scientific Seminar each year. The Board of Directors of the Grand Chapter meets at that time.
The active chapter sends representative to the meeting(at Grand Chapter's expense) to report on the activities and future plans.
